¡Que Chévere!

These pictures are about a week old...Alas, my blogging skills leave something to be desired. However, I will say that I´ve tried my hardest-ish! It´s just difficult to go to the internet café/ having to borrow a usb for the photos/remembering enough to write captions, etc. Haha, anyway...

The girls all decided that paragliding would be fun, so they signed up!
Tawyna signs her life away

I didn´t go porque soy una big chicken, y no tenio dinero. But Kristen went, so I let her borrow my shoes, and she let me borrow her awesome flip-flops! I thought it would be hotter if I kept my socks on- So stylish!

Tawnya prepares to fly

Getting more nervous

Getting strapped in!

And off she goes!

I like this one

T´was a safe landing!

Walking into Starbucks in Lima was like walking into Starbucks in Irvine, and everyone was American...it was eery. The menu was in Spanish, though!

Parque del Amor in Miraflores...que bonita!

It was the first sunny say we had in over a week! And there hasn´t been one since =(. Think warm thoughts, Californians!

This was the night before most of the girls left for home/Cusco, so we decided to stop by some local hang-outs. This is one of the oldest bars in Barranco, a sector in Lima. Tawnya, Margaret, and Nicole ordered Cristal...The Peruvian beer Cristal, not Fifty cent´s fave.

Kristen and Tawnya got to go behind the bar!

Peru-ing!

Hello Everyone!

This week has been the most amazing one so far. It was the last week for most of our fellow volunteers, which was so very emotional. The new volunteers came and went (they were only here for a week, we didn't get too attached) some of them were really cool, though. We all had really great weeks at our placements.

Above: A photo taken by Kristen at Inibif, located in Villa El Salvador. She works with the 2 year-old. Aren't they adorable?

Above: Rocio, Nicole, Erica, Mierta, and Jackie at Mother Teresa's . It was Nicole and Jackie's last day :(
Below: Tawnya does Tai Chi with the abuelos

Above: Haha, best thing ever

Above: Me bebè! Okay, would anyone be opposed to me adopting her?

Below: So, this guy told Nicole and I that he was a doctor...but then we found out from other volunteers that he`s not. It was strange now that I think about it- He kept saying "Erica, please never cut your hair!" and "Nicole! Don`t ever lose that Canadian smile!" and then he took pictures of us with his own camera that he had in his fake lab coat and combed his hair back and everything. BAH!

Below: We were fortunate enough to be at Mother Teresa´s on the 35th anniversary. They had a huge mass, and all of the children got dressed in their Sunday best. It was the cutest thing ever! They all looked so beautiful/handsome.

Below: We went to central Lima and checked out some of the local iglesias

Below: Ahh, a taste of home!

We went to Chili`s later that night...yeah, CHILI`S. What can we say, we miss fine American cuisine! T`was delicioso!

Below: This was a couple of days later, two days before most of the group departed =(. We went to this restaurante on the beach called "Rosa Nautica" I´ve never felt more like a tourist. It was super fancy, right on the water... so beautiful! The entire time I was thinking that it was the nicest restaurant that I had ever been in, and that it would surely make me so broke that I wouldn´t be able to eat for several days after...and it kind of was in soles, but it only ended up being about $15! Yay!

Below: A photo taken by Kristen as Inabif. How cute are those babies? She wants to adopt one, but they`re not orphans, they`re disadvantaged, so we`re like ¨Kristen, that`s not adoption, that`s called kidnapping." Yeah, I don`t blame her.

Besos!

Love ya, mean it
